James G. Carlisle, MD, FSIR
Interventional Radiologist
Medical Director
James G. Carlisle, MD, FSIR is an interventional radiologist and the Medical Director at Wasatch Vascular Care in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Carlisle graduated from the University of Michigan, where he completed his degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with High Distinction.
He was selected to the prestigious interventional radiology fellowship at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under Gordon McLean, MD, one of the most influential leaders in the field. Dr. Carlisle is board certified in diagnostic radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology from the American Board of Radiology.
After a brief period with a small private group in Ohio, he transitioned to Akron, where he joined a busy practice and became an Associate Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University’s College of Medicine.
In 2004, Dr. Carlisle and his family moved to Salt Lake City and he joined the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Institute as an Assistant Professor, Section Chief of Interventional Radiology, fellowship program director, and Director of the Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Center of Excellence. There he developed and led the establishment of the first interventional oncology clinical team in the intermountain west and the first intravascular brachytherapy (Y90) treatment center for the treatment of primary liver tumors, colorectal cancer, and other metastases to the liver. He performed the first Diomed laser alation of the greater saphenous vein in Utah, has been named on various grants and peer-reviewed publications, and enjoyed teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
His dedicated efforts in biomedical research and clinical trials began in 2008, when he was brought to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he became the primary investigator on a clinical trial investigating stage 1A lung cancer. He has also served as the primary investigator on seven of the most important interventional oncology trials in the United States, focusing on colon cancer, primary liver cancer, and the treatment of painful spine metastases. He established the first oncology clinical trials team with the MountainStar system of hospitals. In 2012, he received the physician "Health Care Hero" award from Utah Business Magazine and the MountainStar Health System.

Kevin Maxwell, MD

Kevin Maxwell, MD is an interventional radiologist specializing in interventional oncology and dialysis access management. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Radiology Leadership Institute, Greater Kansas City Radiological Society, American College of Radiology, and American Roentgen Ray Society.
Kevin Maxwell, MD earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Shane Weber, MD
Interventional Radiologist
Shane Weber, MD is an interventional radiologist specializing in venous insufficiency, vein occlusion, peripheral artery disease (PAD), and uterine fibroid embolization. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic National Honors Society, American Osteopathic College of Radiology, American College of Radiology, Michigan Society of Interventional Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, and the American Medical Association.
Shane Weber, MD earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Health Physics from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. He earned a Doctor of Osteopathy from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Pacific Northwest University in Yakima, Washington.

Peter B. Hathaway, MD
Interventional Radiologist
Peter B. Hathaway, MD is an interventional radiologist who currently serves patients at Wasatch Vascular Care in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Hathaway attended the University of Utah, where he completed his degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. While pursuing his degree, he served for over three years as a teaching assistant for the University of Utah Human Anatomy Program under Professor Mark T. Nielsen, where he developed a passion for scholarship and teaching. While in college, he worked as a technician at the Utah Artificial Heart Institute and then as a certified pulmonary function technician in the blood gas lab at the University of Utah Hospital.
He was accepted to the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he graduated with multiple honors including the Dean’s Award, the Golden Headed Cane Award, and membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed a transitional internship at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he received the Intern of the Year Award. He subsequently fulfilled a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington, where he was Chief Resident.
These efforts led to acceptance to the prestigious Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, Missouri, where he completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology. After completion of his fellowship in 1999, he joined Utah Imaging Associates and founded the Utah Vascular Clinic. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology.
Dr. Hathaway continues to pursue research and teaching interests, particularly in percutaneous dialysis interventions and the treatment of peripheral vascular disease. He has published numerous articles on dialysis access and is a nationally recognized thought leader and speaker in the area of percutaneous peritoneal dialysis catheter placement. Peter B. Hathaway, MD is an active consultant to Merit Medical Systems.

Rulon L. Hardman, MD
Interventional Radiologist
Rulon L. Hardman, MD is an interventional radiologist who treats patients at Wasatch Vascular Care located in Salt Lake City, Utah. He specializes in minimally invasive vascular management procedures including peripheral artery disease (PAD) management, varicose vein ablations, vascular access management procedures for dialysis patients, and peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter placement and maintenance.
Dr. Hardman earned his medical degree from Dartmouth School of Medicine in New Hampshire. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he also earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He then completed his interventional radiology fellowship at University of Colorado in Denver. Dr. Hardman worked at the University of Utah and the Huntsman Cancer Institute for five years before joining Utah Vascular and Interventional Specialists. He is a member of the Association of University Radiologists, Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology, and Radiological Society of North America. Rulon L. Hardman, MD is fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish.
