Norbert Shtaynberg, DO, FASN FASDIN

Norbert Shtaynberg, DO, FASN FASDIN is a board-certified interventional nephrologist specializing in the critical maintenance and management of vascular accesses for dialysis patients. In addition, he carries certification in minimally invasive placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters.

Dr. Shtaynberg received his medical degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006 with honors. He completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital. He then went on to pursue training in interventional nephrology under the guidance of Gregg Miller, MD, a pioneer in vascular access. He performs the latest in minimally invasive treatments including angioplasty, stenting, fistula salvage, thrombectomy, thrombolysis, port placement, the MILLER Procedure for steal syndrome, and more. He actively engages in the training of other physicians in nephrology and interventional nephrology fields. He is committed to the success of his patients.

Norbert Shtaynberg, DO, FASN FASDIN co-authored numerous articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. He is an active member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Shtaynberg is a fellow of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology, and the American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Shtaynberg is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He speaks English and Russian.

Salvatore J.A. Sclafani, MD, FSIR

Interventional Radiologist

Salvatore Sclafani, MD, FSIR is an interventional radiologist with more than 40 years of experience specializing in dialysis access management and the minimally invasive treatment of uterine fibroids, varicoceles, and more.

Dr. Sclafani earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate and completed his residency at SUNY Downstate. For the past decade, he has served as professor and chairman of radiology and professor of surgery and emergency medicine at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.

Dr. Sclafani is a past president of the American Society of Emergency Radiology, a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), and the first international member of the Chinese Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Sclafani is a founding member of the International Society for Neurovascular Disease.

Recognized for developing endovascular techniques for hemorrhage control, he was honored by the New York Academy of Medicine for his work among those in need and by the New York Police Department for his celebrated save of a police officer wounded in a shooting. Dr. Sclafani has also been recognized for outstanding community service by Concerned Women of Brooklyn.

Dr. Sclafani has authored more than 160 scientific papers and authored or co-authored 20 textbooks. He also presented at more than 250 national and international lectures. He was the first section editor of radiology for the Journal of Trauma and served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Interventional Radiology and Emergency Radiology.

Dr. Sclafani has been named “Top Doctor – New York City” in vascular and interventional radiology by Castle Connolly more than 5 times since 2005. Castle Connolly identifies Top Doctors by location and specialty, using a peer nomination process.

Salvatore Sclafani, MD, FSIR is board certified in diagnostic radiology and a diplomate of the American College of Radiology with added qualification in interventional radiology.

Paul Yang, MD, FACS, RVT

Vascular Surgeon

Paul Yang, MD, FACS, RVT is a vascular surgeon specializing in dialysis access management and the treatment of peripheral artery disease. He treats patients at American Access Care Physician, PLLC Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Yang earned a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and a medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York City. He completed a residency in general surgery at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and a vascular fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York.

He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Registered Vascular Technologist. He is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the New York Society for Vascular Surgery, and the American Society of Angiology. He has privileges at NY Presbyterian/Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, Mount Sinai, Brooklyn, and The Brooklyn Hospital Center.

Andrzej Kozyra, MD

Interventional Nephrologist

Andrzej Kozyra, MD is a board-certified interventional nephrologist specializing in the maintenance and management of vascular accesses for dialysis patients. To ensure that a patient’s access remains fully functional, he performs minimally invasive endovascular treatments at American Access Care Physician, PLLC Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York, where he is an attending physician.

Dr. Kozyra received his medical degree from The State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Sciences University in 2009. He completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. He then went on to pursue training in interventional nephrology under the guidance of Dr. Norbert Shtaynberg.

Dr. Kozyra is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Nephrology, and American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology. He speaks English and Polish.

Nicholas Fuca, MD

Nicholas Fuca, MD is an interventional nephrologist specializing in the critical maintenance and management of vascular accesses for dialysis patients. He performs the latest minimally invasive procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, thrombectomy, and thrombolysis to preserve and/or restore the functionality of a patient’s access at American Access Care Physician, PLLC Brooklyn in New York.

Nicholas Fuca, MD completed his internal medicine residency at Northwell Health at Staten Island University Hospital in New York, where he was named resident of the year. He completed his nephrology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Fuca is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

Frank Tarantini, MD, FACS

Vascular Surgeon

Frank Tarantini, MD, FACS is a vascular surgeon with particular expertise in the treatment of peripheral artery disease and AV fistula creation. Additionally, he is known for being at the forefront of various treatment modalities including radiofrequency ablation, laser vein closure, sclerotherapy injections, and peripheral arterial angioplasty and stenting.

After graduating from Manhattan College, Dr. Tarantini earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in Brooklyn, where he also completed his residency in surgery and a vascular and endovascular fellowship.

Frank Tarantini, MD, FACS is a member of the American Medical Society, the New York State Medical Society, the Richmond County Medical Society, and the New York Society for Vascular Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has published several clinical papers.
